What is Part 107 recurrent training?

Part 107 recurrent training is a free online course Remote Pilot Certificate holders must complete every 24 calendar months to maintain commercial flying privileges.

After earning a Remote Pilot Certificate via the Aeronautical Knowledge Test, pilots must complete recurrent training every 24 calendar months to keep their commercial privileges active. The recurrent training is:

• Free • Online • Self-paced (~2 hours) • Hosted at faasafety.gov as course ALC-677

Completion generates a digital certificate that the pilot keeps with their other documentation. The recurrent training covers updated regulations (night ops, over-people categories, Remote ID), regulatory refreshers, and weather/operational topics.

If recurrent training lapses, the pilot's commercial privileges are inactive until completed. Operating commercially with lapsed recurrent training is a § 107.61 violation.

What this means for pilots

Set a calendar reminder for 22 months after your initial certificate (or last recurrent). The training is free and quick — there's no reason to let it lapse. After completion, you'll need to log into IACRA to record completion against your certificate.

Do I have to retake the Part 107 exam?

No — that's only for initial certification. Recurrent is online training, no exam.
